  • August 07 2010: This is the last update in this website for a while, as I will be doing my 9-month obligatory army service in Greece until May 2011. I will be working on various projects on a part-time basis, but there probably won't be much time for website updates.

  • The latest presentation on plasmonic cloaks and non-monodhromatic illumination was added under Academia-->Presentations (August 2010).

  • Updated the publications list with recent conference papers under Academia-->Publications (July 2010).

  • Added my piece on the Fun Science-->Essays-->Science of LOST. Added a megapanorama of Los Angeles under Art-->Photography-->Panoramas. Added a light painting photograph under Art-->Photography-->People (June 2010).

  • Updated the front page using a more informal FAQ format.

  • Added Prestige and Dark City to the list of favorite movies under Art-->Movies.

  • New paper! We investigate the behavior of metamaterial cloaking devices under broadband illumination (instead of plane waves). Check out the Physical Review E paper under Academia --> publications, or see more details in the Research --> Metamaterials page (February 2010).

  • Check out the home page for some funky new profile pictures.

  • Happy new year! The site layout has been slightly revamped, with a new category "Art" that now includes Books, Movies, Paintings, Photography, and Sculptures, which were previously under "Personal". A new section has been also added that describes favorite music pieces, under
    Art-->Music.

  • The paper list has been updated (January 2010).

  • I prepared a short page with photographs from our wedding - as well as the wedding video which I prepared myself. Find it at timaras.com/skopelos.

  • From my recent trip to Paris, France, you can find photo updates under People, Skylines, Panoramas. Also: an update on the sculptures section with the Winged Victory of Samothrace.

  • 4 new conference papers have appeared under Academia-->Publications.

  • Three pictures have been added from my last trip to Greece. People, Skylines, and Hall of Fame (September 2009).

  • The latest presentation at the ICEAA 2009 conference in Torino, Italy has been uploaded under Academia-->Presentations (September 2009).

  • Major update: Both the research sections on plasma wakefields and metamaterials have now been completed! All the components of the website are now fully functional, almost 6 months after starting (August 2009).

  • I finished writing my overview of designing a pair of speakers. The details are uploaded under Research --> Side projects, named Speaker Design. That was my favorite class of all time.

  • The Biofuels review is now complete under Research --> Side Projects. Scientific American recently also had a similar article on its cover. Other minor tweaks around the website have also been implemented (August 2009).

  • Some pictures from my recent trip to Scotland and the Highlands have been added. Check Skylines, Sunsets, HDR (July 2009).

  • The new paper on simplified designs of ground-plane cloaks has appeared in Physical Review A. See the paper here, or look at the full publication list under Academia --> Publications (June 2009).

  • The slides for my talk at the IEEE Antenna and Propagation Society Symposium AP-S 2009, FDTD Simulations of Ground-Plane Cloaks", have been uploaded under Academia --> Presentations. The work was presented under the Transformation Electromagnetics Session (June 2009).

  • The summary on Dark Matter and Dark Energy results is now available under Research --> Dark Matter (June 2009).

  • The 2000 paper on the Perfect Lens was added in the list of Interesting Papers (May 2009).

  • Some presentations on the plasma wakefields are now shown under Academia-->Presentations. The section Academia of the website is now fully working (May 2009).

  • The most recent Resume and Full CV have been uploaded under Academia-->CV+Resume (May 2009).

  • The Academia --> Publications section was completed and brought up to date. It will be regularly updated from now on.

  • I was awarded the 2009 IEEE Particle Accelerator Science and Technology Doctoral Student Award during PAC 2009 in Vancouver, Canada. Related: USC news story (May 2009)

  • Pics from my recent trip to Vancouver have been added. Check Skylines, Panoramas, HDR (May 2009)

  • New website under works, major upgrades planned (Mar 2009)

  • Two papers from the AAC conference in the summer are uploaded; the upcoming paper on IEEE transactions on capillary discharges is listed (Feb 2009)

  • Two new posters for the APS 2008 Conference have been uploaded (Nov 2008)

  • I am currently a post-doctoral researcher at the Antenna Group of Queen Mary University in London (Sep 2008)

  • The paper on electron bunch train generation was published online (Aug 2008)

  • I successfully defended my thesis and got it approved the thesis editors (get a copy here).
